The 2nd shift Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for the fabrication segment of the manufacturing department, and the associated team members as well as managing materials and information associated with work-in-process (WIP) components and finished goods related to this segment.
The position will ensure the fabrication schedule is communicated accurately and frequently to internal stakeholders/employees and will work with Receiving and Triage as well as Paint and Assembly where applicable to ensure all parts required are delivered on time to the respective department and defect-free, meeting all required standards.
The position will be responsible to report safety, quality, delivery, and usage metrics to the Director of Operations and identify and correct all issues that negatively affect these metrics.
This position will be fully responsible for the fabrication team and is empowered to make any changes required to meet productivity goals.
POSITION
Responsibilities:
FULL ownership of the fabrication segment of manufacturing including:
Responsibility for understanding and disseminating part prints.
Interpretation and dissemination of daily work orders/schedule.
Must deliver products to 100% on time within all quality and cost constraints.
Ownership of all safety within the fabrication segment of manufacturing.
Ownership of all pre- and post-fabricated until hand off to next business segment.
Always maintaining an accurate part count.
Ensuring a DAILY communication chain back to stakeholders for what products are needed and when they are needed where applicable.
Ownership of parts within the line's defined boundaries.
Ensure all parts remain within assigned area and only the assigned area.
Ensure all product quality within assigned area of control.
Track and report safety, quality, productivity, and usage on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Reports at daily management meetings with the team to discuss daily goals, objectives, and company/department updates.
Updates and communicates labor needs regularly.
Develops metrics for efficiency and accountability.
Maintain S5 in the Fabrication segment of Manufacturing.
Responsible for the management of fabrication team members and providing effective employee relations and leadership in the accomplishment of company goals and objectives.
Develops and executes SOPs and hold your team accountable, including progressive discipline when necessary.
Identifies talent on your team, including identifying primary and backups for critical roles and creating training plans for every critical role.
Handles employee concerns and issues, including filling out incident reports or other relevant documentation and submitting it to Human Resources.
Engage in the recruiting and hiring process and develop the team members through training, coaching, and providing feedback.
Ensures the facility and associates comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills and proven ability to utilize MS Office.
Proven ability to establish and lead others towards a deadline.
Must be able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Effective interpersonal, management and organizational skills.
Proven ability to problem solving skills.
Knowledge of product design and function to optimize product quality and manufacturing costs.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Process knowledge of forming, fabrication, paint, welding, and material handling in a Manufacturing environment.
Ability to operate various type of blueprints.
EDUCATION &
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.
7-10 years manufacturing experience.
3-5 years management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
